The 4 School Sport Networks/ Partnerships, in conjunction with the Local Authority and South Yorkshire Sport were this year proud to invite all Sheffield Schools to attend the Primary Physical Education and School Sport Conference at Hillsborough Stadium. Over 110 schools from across the city were in attendance on the day where important information was relayed to headteachers, senior leaders and PE coordinators from a range of Sheffield Schools. Guest speakers on the day included individuals discussing Ofsted and Physical Education, as well as Outdoor Education and Health and Safety. As well as this the staff were treat to a presentation by former international Rugby League player Keith Senior who discussed the importance of providing children with a range of opportunities.
Schools were able to network and chat with local schools from across the city, to discuss good practice and to compare what they were delivering in relation to certain outcomes. Over 20 partners were invited to showcase ways in which they can support schools with things such as equipment, facility development, schemes of work, teacher training and school sports coaching. We were also able to celebrate the success of Sheffield Schools and hand out certificates to many schools who had achieved the School Games Mark and the Sheffield KS1 Sports Mark
We would like to thank the Sheffield Wednesday Community Foundation for their support with the facility as well as the opportunity for school staff to undertake stadium tours throughout the day. Thanks must also go to all partners who were able to deliver on the day and are continually supporting sport and PE development across the city of Sheffield.
