Thursday 29th September brought the 3rd annual Sheffield Primary PE and Sport Conference at Hillsborough Stadium. This event was ran by the Sheffield School Sport Partnership Network as well as the Yorkshire Sport Foundation and Sheffield City Council.
The event saw 109 Sheffield Primary Schools represented in some way by their PE coordinators, SLT and headteachers which covers 87% of the city. This is an extremely positive response by Sheffield Schools and showcases just how important PE and school sport is seen across the city.
School staff were able to access a number of keynote speeches on developing themselves as subject leaders as well as hear from a number of different projects taking place within the city. The Move More programme inspired a large number of staff on the day who have since contacted us for support. It was impressive to see the science behind the importance of physical activity and sport in children and was fantastic to have some facts and figures to take back to school.
There were 21 industry marketplace stall holders on the day who were all able to provide support to schools as they specifically needed it. These included coaching organisations, cycle experience, SIV, afPE, IMoves Dance, Real PE, Cricket Kids, DS Taekwondo and many more.
The Arches SSP would like to thank everybody for making the day such a special occasion and would like to thank Sheffield Wednesday FC for their support in terms of the venue.
