Concord Sports Centre played host to the Sheffield Y7 Boys 5-a-sode competition on Thursday 6th October where the cold weather did not affect the atmosphere or the efforts of 19 secondary school teams!
Schools that played on the day included Fir Vale, Ecclesfield, Parkwood, Forge Valley, King Edwards, All Saints, Bradfield, Westfield and Notre Dame. The idea of the competition is that it gives the Secondary Schools across the city the opportunity to play in an additional format of football for Y7 boys, where a large number of boys come from playing at Primary School level, and some do now not get the chance to represent their school.
Teams played in pool rounds to see who came out on top with All Saints and Fir Vale making their way through the semis and in to the final. A close fought game saw All Saints come from 2-0 down to draw the match 2-2. With no goal scored in extra time the game went to penalties where Fir Vale came out victorious and took home the winners trophy and medals!
