This year a number of schools in the Ecclesfield Cluster of Primary Schools have signed up to an additional service from ourselves to provide their pupils with more opportunity for competition and links to local sports provision. This will see Lound Juniors, Lound Infants, Coit, High Green, Windmill Hill and St Mary's Catholic Academy compete in a number of additional competitions/ events.
The first opportunity included a local football league where teams were invited to play each other on a number of different evenings for a chance to win the league shield and have the bragging rights in the Ecclesfield, Chapeltown and High Green area. A close fought league which saw teams scoring some great goals and a huge amount of sideline support from parents and families was taken by High Green Primary School.
In addition to this we then worked closely with the FA Skills Team and Thorncliffe Football HUB to put on a football event for Key Stage 1. This was a great day that saw over 100 5 and 6 year olds experience playing competitive matches against other local schools. Although played mostly for fun the day did have a winning team in Windmill Hill. The event was also supported by Sheffield Wednesday and the Primary Stars Programme, who were able to provide some great prizes as well as supporting with the refereeing.
Another competition put on for the cluster was a primary Dodgeball Festival at Ecclesfield Secondary School. This saw children from Coit and St Mary's battle it out with one of the Coit teams being the winners on the night. This event was supported by Leaders from Ecclesfield Secondary School who were amazing at umpriring the fast paced games that were taking place.
Coming up for this cluster includes a KS1 Gymnastics Event, more football tournaments, Hockey, Cricket, Tennis and Orienteering.
