Sports Hall Athletics Finals showcase Sheffield's Talent
Sports Hall Athletics Finals showcase Sheffield's Talent

January 2017 saw the Sheffield City Finals for the Primary and Secondary Sports Hall Athletics Programme and they did not disappoint with regards to the standard of  the athletes.

The Primary School competition was held again at the EIS, Sheffield's home of athletics, and had the best 8 teams taking part from a competition pathway that has seen over 80 schools compete since September. Although fierce with competition for the second spot it was the Arches SSP school, Nether Green Juniors who won the city final by 20 points and progressed comfortably through to the South Yorkshire County Finals coming up in March. Nether Green will be going for the Double Gold as they took home the title of County Champions in last year's competition too. We wish them the best of luck for the next round.

We stayed there the day after and hosted the Secondary Finals which saw two heats of Year 7 & 8 boys and girls, represent their schools in an amazing way. It was great to see so many secondary schools in Sheffield still engage with the competition pathway and a number of Sheffield Schools progressed through to the county final, which will also be held on the 16th March.

If you are interested in getting involved in athletics in Sheffield then please let us know and we will be happy to help where we can.
