We see the importance of varied roles in sport across all stages and annually run the Arches Leadership Academy for dedicated pupils and students across both Primary and Secondary Schools within our cluster and School Games area.
This academic year we have delivered a range of Sports Leader/ Playground Leader courses at Primary schools which will allow pupils the opportunity to run activities and clubs for other pupils in their schools. In addition to this the Arches Primary Leadership Academy see’s 9 Primary Schools nominate pupils to take a role in school where they will support the development and delivery of PE and School Sport at their school by being part of a School Sport Crew or Sports Council. Our induction evening saw nearly 50 pupils attend a fantastic event where lots of discussion took place about how pupils can have a positive impact on their school.
We have also inducted over 80 Secondary Students this year from Year 8 and Year 9 at 4 Sheffield Secondary Schools who will work hard to increase the amount of pupils accessing sport and physical activity at their school as well as supporting us at numerous events throughout the school year. These students will receive training opportunities throughout the year in various sports and will be responsible for running some events for their local Primary Schools. The Secondary Leadership Academy will see students volunteer their own time within school or within their local community to try and reach Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Leadership status. Schools involved in this year’s deliver are; Forge Valley School, Hinde House Secondary School, Parkwood Academy and Ecclesfield School.
