Hucklow are bowled over at Lords Cricket Ground

The Arches SSP, through our close partnership work with the Yorkshire Cricket Board, nominated Hucklow Primary School for an award through the national Chance 2 Shine Programme for their commitment to cricket. The school work hard all year round to develop cricket as a priority sport, delivering clubs and intra school competitions at lunchtimes and after school. The school try where possible, to push children to the local cricket club where a number of children are now able to play in community time.

From the nomination the school were awarded the opportunity to take a group of children to Lords, the home of English cricket for a Spirit of Cricket Day. The children got a tour of the ground as well as being able to play on the pitch that the England team take to this summer or the Ashes Test Series.

They were also lucky enough to meet the England Female Cricket Captain Charlotte Edwards and Yorkshire captain Lauren Winfield, as well as Ashes 2005 winner Simon Jones. The school had a great day and we
